Deshittyfing Linkedin
Lately, I’ve tried to use social media less. My main objective was to reduce the time I spent on Instagram Reels, and in these first three months of 2026 I can say that I sort of accomplished that goal, maybe partially.
The issue is that part of the time I spent on IG is now being wasted elsewhere, on LinkedIn. Kinda weird, but I think that the fact that it is a little bit more useful than Instagram makes me hooked while feeling a bit less guilty.
The problem of linkedin is that there is a bit of signal, and a huge lot of noise, and the existence of subbreddits like r/LinkedinLunatics or r/LinkedInCringeIT is an indisputable proof.
Pushed by this feeling and ultimately by this comment on reddit

If LinkedIn ever added a filter “posts with the rocket emoji ON/OFF” I swear Iād pay premium for life
I decided to write a simple-stupid browser extension to deshittify linkedin, called “DeshittyfIn”.

You only need to put a list of emojis (or just use the default one), and your LinkedIn feed will magically become a little less shitty!
Here’s an example:
DeshittyfIn OFF, post with ā
is shown:

DeshittyfIn ON, emojis are no more!

Obviously there could be collateral damage, interesting posts being hidden because of an emoji, but
- the linkedIn way of using emojis is irritating and a symptom of AI slop
- emojis are still a IoC (as Indicator of Cringe) acting as a lowest common denominator of lots of shitty posts
If you want to check out the code, or if you are interested in deshittyfing your LinkedIn feed, here’s the Github repo!
Aaaand, that was what building a browser extension taught me about quantum, agentic-ai SaaS funnels š
Have a nice day,
